North Carolina Society of Goldsmiths
Jewelry In Motion Workshop
Taught by Dory Brown
March 11-12, 2006 from 9am - 4:00pm at Monnda Welch's studio in Pittsboro.
Cost: $150 for members (you must be a member to participate). Add $20 to your fee to join NCSG.
This class we will put motion into jewelry using pulleys, block and tackles. We will explore the understanding of balance and proportion in any jewelry, and specifically in a moveable piece where balance, center of gravity and relationships of design elements must match for the pulley or block and tackle to really work. We will also explore several ways to make an adjustable necklace where the length of the chain can be altered and the pendant reliably placed with this adjustable chain length.
Students are encouraged to look at Dory's website (http://www.futuristicallyarchaic.com) to see some of these designs and to bring projects that need closures or connections or parts that can be used to make an adjustable necklace.
Deadline for sign up is March 3; class size is limited to 10 participants.
