Fun da Metals- Jewelry and small sculpture from Idea to Reality
Taught by Marcia Macdonald
August 16-17, 2008 from 9:30am-4:30pm at Monnda Welch's studio in Pittsboro.
Cost: $150 for members (you must be a member to participate). Add $20 to your fee to join NCSG.
Working with traditional and alternative materials, students will fashion jewelry or small objects of personal importance, expression, and adornment. We will explore ideas and make objects evocative of the student's personal visions through a variety of techniques both traditional and alternative. Focus of this workshop will be opening the mind, scrutinizing your inspiration and concept, designing, drawing and problem solving the many ways in which we create art. Fabrication techniques and cold connections will be emphasized.
The only prerequisites are energy, enthusiasm and an interest in the eccentricity of the ordinary. We will stress both technique and content (or intent). The class will be structured around a series of lectures and demonstrations with plenty of time for individual attention and work time. Students should expect to get several pieces going (and maybe finished!) in this workshop. All levels.
Registration: Send your name and payment of $150 ($170 for non-members) to: NCSG, P.O. Box 196, Pittsboro NC 27312. Also, please reserve your space by emailing John Fetvedt at fetvedt@mindspring.com, or calling John at 919-787-9874.
